JFK was travelling Dallas for a campaign tour with his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, the Texas Governor, John Connally and his wife, Nellie Connally. The city of Dallas was considered as a relatively risky destination because it was refractory to Kennedy’s ideas. Dallas was one of the largest cities in Texas, a southern state where racial segregation was appreciated until Kennedy terminated it in 1962. However, the crowd was really enthusiastic.
